Vaccinated Travelers

  • Effective May 1, 2021, visitors travelling to The Bahamas from other countries who are fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period will be exempted from COVID-19 testing requirements for entry and inter-island travel.
  • The Bahamas Ministry of Health will only be accepting vaccinations by Moderna, Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca at this time. Visitors who have received non-approved vaccines must follow the same protocols as unvaccinated travelers to be granted entry to The Bahamas.
  • Fully vaccinated travelers must apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs and will be required to upload proof of vaccination (such a CDC or government issued vaccine record card) confirming they have passed the two-week immunity period. Name and date of vaccination(s) must be clearly stated in order to complete the application and present it upon arrival in The Bahamas.

Unvaccinated Travelers

  • Unvaccinated travelers entering The Bahamas and/or those travelling inter-island from Nassau & Paradise Island, Grand Bahama Island, Abaco, Eleuthera or Harbour Island, must obtain a negative COVID-19 PCR (swab) test taken no more than 5 days prior to the date of arrival. Test must return a negative result for entry into The Bahamas.
  • Unvaccinated travelers must apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs and will be required to upload their negative COVID-19 PCR test results in order to complete the application and present it upon arrival in The Bahamas.
  • Your COVID-19 RT-PCR test must be taken no more than 5 days prior to the date of arrival. Any person presenting test results older than 5 days will not be allowed entry into The Bahamas.

All Travelers: Vaccinated and Unvaccinated

  • All travelers must apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa at travel.gov.bs and complete the application for approval to present upon arrival in The Bahamas.
  • The name of the applicant must exactly match name on the applicant's valid passport.
  • As part of the Bahamas Travel Health Visa application, all travelers – vaccinated and unvaccinated – will be required to opt-in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay in The Bahamas. Note: The $40 per person health visa application fee, which includes the cost of the required COVID-19 health insurance, is reimbursable for you and your guest ($80 total) through Konica Minolta's Expense Report system, Concur, located on MyKonicaMinolta.com.
  • Bahamas Travel Health Visa applications take up to 48 hours to process and should be completed with adequate lead time. The cost of the Bahamas Travel Health Visa is dependent on length of stay and vaccination status.

  • All travelers eighteen (18) years of age and older are required to complete an individual Bahamas Travel Health Visa. Persons seventeen (17) years and younger are to add a profile within the account of their parent or guardian.

On-Site

  • ALL winners and guests who have not been fully vaccinated will be rapid-tested by the resort in order to be permitted to stay at the resort.
  • Schedule your Return COVID-19 RT PCR Test: All winners and guests, vaccinated or unvaccinated, will need to take a COVID-19 PCR Test prior to returning to the U.S. This will be done on-site at the hotel. You will schedule your appointment for Thursday, July 8 or Friday, July 9 upon checking in at the Konica Minolta Hospitality Desk. Proof of a negative test result is needed to return to the U.S.
  • Travel with Confidence: For trip winners or their guests that test positive for COVID-19, the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar will provide courtesy suite accommodations and a daily dining credit of $150 per person per day, for up to 14 days for quarantining. In addition, should a guest need to return to the United States earlier, the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar will provide private air travel to return the guest and their traveling companion back to the U.S., free of charge.
  • Konica Minolta requires that you and your guest have currently active health insurance that will provide coverage through the end of the year, to ensure you and your guest are protected for any eventuality.

All inbound aircraft passengers – both visitors and U.S. citizens – must present a negative COVID-19 test result and a signed attestation form to the airline. The COVID-19 test must be taken no more than 3 days before you travel by air into the U.S., and you will be required to show your negative result to the airline before you board your flight. If a traveler has previously tested positive for COVID-19, they may submit documentation that they have been infected and recovered. Travelers will be denied boarding by the airline if they do not have the appropriate documentation. If a traveler tests positive, the CDC recommends they self-isolate and delay travel until they've recovered from COVID-19. Airlines will not permit travelers to board a flight to the U.S. if a negative test result for COVID-19 or documentation of recovery is not presented.

  • Rapid antigen testing will be administered onsite at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar free of charge. Test results are provided within approximately 30 minutes to one hour of administration.
  • In the event of a POSITIVE test result, you will need to enter isolation at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. As stated, the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar will provide courtesy suite accommodations and a daily dining credit of $150 per person per day, for up to 14 days for quarantining. Travel Advisories from CDC and U.S. Department of State for The Bahamas
In December 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) unveiled a new 4-level system to categorize destinations in regard to COVID-19 exposure and risk. At this time, a majority of international destinations were classified as "Level 4: Very high level of COVID-19." Recently, the U.S. Department of State began updating travel advisories to more closely align with the CDC by expanding its "Level 4: Do Not Travel" list to more than 80 percent of countries. According to the U.S. Department of State, the updates do not imply a reassessment of the current health situation in a given country, rather an adjustment in the system to rely more on the CDC's assessments.

Currently, The Bahamas is classified as a Level 4 country according to the CDC and U.S. Department of State due to COVID-19. If you chose to travel to The Bahamas, both the CDC and U.S. State Department have provided the following recommendations:

Grand Hyatt Baha Mar has instituted Global Care and Cleanliness Commitment policies and procedures throughout the resort. For the most up-to-date information, please revisit the resort website shortly before your departure.

Many states, cities and counties continue to adjust their health and safety guidelines in accordance with the CDC's recommendations for those who are fully vaccinated. The CDC recommends checking with the state or local health department where you are, along your route and at your planned destination.

TSA Airport Security Procedures
The TSA is continuing to implement new security procedures for passengers to limit physical contact and increase physical distance as much as possible. For the latest travel advisories and procedures prior to your departure, please visit the TSA website. Some policies may include:

  • Masks required for public transportation: All travelers are still required to wear a mask that meets CDC guidelines in airports and on public transportation including airplanes, trains and bus. The TSA is imposing fines for travelers not adhering to mask guidelines. The TSA will recommend a fine ranging from $250 for the first offense up to $1,500 for repeat offenders. Based on substantial aggravating or mitigating factors, the TSA may seek a sanction amount that falls outside these ranges. The TSA has provided transportation system operators specific guidance on how to report violations so that the TSA may issue penalties to those who refuse to wear a face mask.
  • Keeping possession of boarding passes: Travelers are now required to place their boarding pass (paper or electronic) on the boarding pass readers themselves and show the boarding pass to the TSA officer for inspection.
  • Hand sanitizer exemption: TSA is allowing one liquid hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per passenger, in carry-on bags until further notice; however, passengers with more than 3 ounces will undergo additional checkpoint screening.
  • Separating food for X-ray screening: Passengers are required to place all carry-on food items in a clear plastic bag, remove from carry-on luggage and place into a bin for screening. TSA PreCheckmembers do not need to remove items from their bags.
  • Removing required contents from carry-on luggage: Passengers will be required to go through security again to remove any items that should have originally been removed (such as laptops, liquids, gels, aerosols and large electronics) and resubmit their property for X-ray screening.
  • Social distancing policies: Passengers should allow for social distancing whenever possible without compromising security.

Please visit your specific airline carrier's website for their COVID-19 policies and procedures.

Airline Required Health Acknowledgment: Many airlines require passengers to complete a simple health acknowledgment during the check-in process. Health acknowledgments will request that you perform an evaluation of your own health prior to travel. Typically, you will be asked to disclose any symptoms or recent exposure, and acknowledge that you understand the face covering requirements. Passengers who fail or refuse to complete the health acknowledgment may be deemed unfit to travel, and each carrier will resolve the matter in accordance with its own policies. This measure is expected to remain in place throughout the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Additional health and safety policies & practices may include:

  • Minimizing touchpoints throughout the journey
  • Encouraging the use of airline app for check-in and boarding passes
  • Temporarily closing self-check-in kiosks
  • Following the six-foot rule at ticket counters
  • Limiting in-flight food and beverage options
  • Boarding fewer passengers at a time from back to front
  • Maintaining cleanliness and sanitization at terminals and on aircrafts
  • Incorporating disinfectant fogging process
  • Increasing cleaning schedules of high-traffic areas
  • Providing easier access to hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes
