The International Society for Advancement of Cytometry Proudly Presents

Oral and Poster Abstracts

The International Society for Advancement of Cytometry seeks abstracts on the most innovative research in the biological, life, and physical sciences.

While many submissions might fall into more than one of these general categories, we ask authors to select only one area of interest. Overlap into more than one category as well as cross-over between fields is anticipated and expected and will be considered during abstract review for CYTO 2023 programming.

Additionally, please follow this link, which expands upon areas of research found within the listed categories. We highly encourage new and emerging areas of cytometry science, discovery, translation, and/or innovation. The link therefore provides additional guidance with suggested sub-categories that are generally considered a sub-discipline of each respective topical areas.

IMPORTANT DEADLINES:

  • Submission site opens: October 17, 2022
  • Oral and Poster Abstract Submission Deadline: January 13, 2023
  • Authors notified of acceptance: Late February 2023

Oral Parallel Session Submission

Oral Presentations allow for researchers to present the latest scientific and technological advances in the Cytometry topic areas. Talks are scheduled for 20 minutes (15 minutes for presentation, 5 minutes for audience questions). Abstracts should include an introduction, establish the area of the work, background, and context for the reader. The methods used should be described, especially any new or improved techniques. The results should be clearly stated, and their significance in the context of previous work should be outlined in the conclusion.

*If your oral abstract is not accepted, it will only be considered for poster presentation if you select this preference during the submission process.

Poster Session Submission

Poster presentations are displayed on a 6ft wide x 4ft high board. Authors must be present during a designated one-hour time slot to address CYTO attendee questions about their presentation.

NEW THIS YEAR!

Moderated Posters will be presented as dynamic e-poster sessions to a live audience. These posters provide a means for authors to showcase their posters to a wide audience or use multimedia components. If you select this option, your abstract will be reviewed for selection of this poster type.

The selection will be based on two primary criteria: significance of the research and scientific innovation. Therefore, in your submission please elaborate on the importance of your work/research/data and how this impacts your respective field. Finally, provide detail as to the transformative aspects/new directions/unique approaches of this contribution.

To be considered for a moderated poster presentation of your poster, you must select during the abstract submissions process that you would like to be considered. If you select this option, you will be notified, if selected, after review of all abstracts.

Your poster will also be uploaded electronically if you provide consent during the submission process. Instructions for formatting will be sent within your abstract acceptance letter.

Preparing for Your Online Submission

The Society uses an online submission system for presentations. To be considered, submissions will only be accepted through the online submission site, must contain all the required elements, and be completed by the deadline. Selecting, collecting, and preparing the following information below will facilitate the submission process. To access the online submission system, a site user account must be created. You will need to enter an email address and create a password. The site user is the only person that can make changes to a submission.

Submissions Guidelines

  • Abstracts must be in English.
  • Text length is a minimum of 1,000 characters and a maximum of 3,000 characters including spaces and tables.
  • Please make sure that your browser can display the full variety of special characters, including Greek letters, if needed for your abstract.

Presenting Author MUST  be listed as the first author of the abstract.

  • Presenting Author will receive all correspondence regarding CYTO 2023 and is responsible for communicating presentation information to all authors.
  • Do not include title or author information in the abstract text box area.

Before submitting your abstract

Once you submit your abstract, you will not be able to make any further changes. We suggest that you "Save As Draft" and carefully proofread all information before submitting. You can come back later to edit your draft at any time before submission.

Ideal Submissions

  • Contain new, original research content or scientific concepts
  • Interesting, innovative, meaningful, or compelling content will address all learner levels
  • Articulate the rationale for the presentation which is supported by literature and/or research.
  • Statement of the purpose should be clear to include the scientific method, specific experimental questions, statistical analyses with conclusions supported by results.
  • Identify the potential impact of the research on clinical practice, education of students, the profession or future research.
  • Can NOT be product or promotion specific.
Please Note:
  • The Program Committee reserves the right to decline a presentation for any submitted abstracts that lack scientific content or merit, or that merely announce the availability of a resource or service.
  • Results or studies that have been published or that will be accepted for publication elsewhere prior to the submission deadline may not be accepted for presentation.
  • With regard to research using human subjects, ISAC endorses the protections embodied in the Basic Principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and their expansion in the regulations governing research supported by the U.S. Government (45 CFR Part 46; 56 FR 28003). ISAC does not endorse and will not publish the results of research that was not conducted in accordance with these principles. Investigations involving animals reported in abstracts must have been conducted in conformance with approved principles of the care and use of animals in research.

Awards

Student and SRL Junior Staff Travel Award

Please note: Student and SRL Junior Staff Travel Awards must be applied for by January 13, 2023.

ISAC has established a fund for Students, Junior Shared Resource Lab (SRL), or core staff whose abstracts have been approved for either oral or poster presentation at the CYTO Congress and who require financial aid to attend.  Interested students and staff should complete the online award application available when submitting your abstract.

Eligibility and Guidelines:

Junior Shared Resource Labs (SRL) staff:
Five or fewer years of SRL staff experience and without management responsibilities are eligible to apply for this award. You must be a member of ISAC. An SRL junior staff member may receive this award up to three times. Curriculum vitae or resume and a letter of reference from a SRL director/manager (who must be an ISAC member) must be included with the SRL Junior Staff Travel Award Application.

Students:
ISAC members enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate program are eligible (i.e. leading to a doctoral degree, M.D., Ph.D., D.V.M., D.O., D.D.S. or equivalent and students pursuing a graduate degree, such as a Masters in science). You must be a member of ISAC. Curriculum vitae and proof of enrollment must be included with the Student Travel Award Application.

The value of the Travel Award is at the discretion of ISAC’s Membership Services Committee but typically will not exceed $1,000 USD. It is the responsibility of each approved applicant to cover any additional cost for attendance at the CYTO Congress not covered by this travel award.

Please Note:
